semi-deadly sins

These “semi-deadly” sins, like eating, sleeping or using the Internet aren’t inherently bad. It’s even OK to really like them. But when we depend on them to fill us, pouring more and more fuel into the insatiable furnace of these little vices, they become harmful to our relationship with God and other people.

Any sin can be deadly when it numbs us and keeps us from receiving love from God and others. Jesus said that this is the work of the thief, who only steals and destroys (John 10:10). Instead, God wants to have abundantly and radically alive, pressing into the pain and the joy, fully present in the life that He gives.

so over this holiday

Thanksgiving... the only reason why I get excited over this holiday is because we had vacation. WOOHOO

now that i am out of school, there's no real excitement. My family was never into making turkey and all that jazz. We would always make Korean food.. we as in my mom. And order the traditional American stuff from Boston market (ghetto), then we upgraded to whole turkey and sides that u just heat up. Still though, it never was a big holiday. Maybe it's cause my immediate family is not that big so it's not as loud and crazy which tv shows and movies always makes holidays out to be.

When I have my own family, I'm going to make all our holidays super exciting. Like, paty til u drop or throw up or poop ur diapers (yea, im gonna wear diapers at my own party in the future. watch football and go to the bathroom at same time. efficiency... waddup). But I guess I always had that American holiday dream mentality. Maybe hollywood has gotten to my head too much but I want to see future holidays as joyful, not something to dread or whine over.

Newho, I'm thankful for having this break in work/life. Thankful for my friends who always let me crash and use their showers. Thankful for parents who house me and are patient with me. Thankful for this amazing God who never fails me and has crazy grace and love for me.
